This video, which was shot and edited by Carlos Valladares & Patrice Fisher, shows New Orleans musicians participating at the Ascona Jazz Festival, in Switzerland. It includes interviews with different musicians, a Gospel priest and some of the producers, like Nicolas Gilliet. They talk about their experiences with hurricane Katrina, their need for help and the importance of raising funds to save the cultural traditions of New Orleans. The video includes interviews with: Father LeDoux, as well as Grand Marshals Uncle Lionel & Emanuel Boutté, who were part of a second line parade, a Jazz funeral and a Gospel mass. Musicians like: Lilian Boutté, Leroy Jones, Don Vappie, Mark Brooks, Dr.Michael White, Shannon Powell, the Maryland Brass band, Happy Feet Brass Band, Sheik Richardson, from the Arabi Wrecking Krewe; Gerald French, Phil Parnell, Ben Smith, Gregg Stafford, Steve Burke, Rob Spino and many others, are part of the Spirit of New Orleans video. This documentary shows the beauty and importance of New Orleans music.
