The 46th annual Hampton Jazz Festival is back once again on the 27th, 28th & 29th of June 2014. Having been running since 1968, the Hampton Jazz Festival brings people together for a few days and nights in late June for moments of pure entertainment. The festival is normally hosted at Virginia’s Hampton Coliseum, and will be again in 2014.

The Hampton Jazz fest has now been running for over 45 years (est. 1968) and has hosted pretty much every great Jazz, pop, blues and soul artist you can think. The festival is run in partnership with the City of Hampton and Hampton University.
Initially it was started to celebrate Hampton Universities 100th birthday and was only intended as a ‘one-off’ festival on the Universities own campus. Since it’s launch, the festival has continued in order to please it’s growing demand and now tens of thousands of people come from all over the world for a few days in June to celebrate and enjoy music together.

Tickets for the Hampton Jazz Festival 2014 are $60.00 + $4.00 fees per seat per day. Tickets go on sale March 22nd 2014 @ 10am and can be purchased here at Ticketmaster.com.
(Prices for the 2013 festival were $58.50 per seat per day plus a facility fee of $3.50.)
You can receive a discount for large groups (45+) and are only available through fax or mail to the Hampton Coliseum Box Office.
The nearest international airport to Hampton Jazz Festival is Norfolk International Airport (ORF) and is located approimately 30 km (19 miles) from Hampton Coliseum. To get to the festival venue from the airport you can get a taxi (around $30 one-way – list of taxi companies and numbers), it will take around 25 minutes. Alternatively you could jump on the airport shuttle which has been operating since 1928 and will drop you off in Hampton. Currently 6 airlines fly into Norfolk International Airport (list of airlines here).

If you are on a super shoe-string budget then search HostelWorld and get a bed in a hostel for as little as $3! - (Private rooms often $20+)

Note that there is NO TENT CAMPING at the Hampton Jazz Festival this year. However, you are allowed to ‘camp’ in your RV or Motorhome at the nearby Fam Camp RV Park/Campground or alternatively you can see some more at RV Park Reviews for the Hampton Area.
